I honestly think it's a real shame that for the iconic weapon that forms such a major part of the PvE campaign the requirement seems to be heavily weighted towards PvP. Even if the invader decides to duke it out with me and wins, that's time they aren't spending killing mote carriers. Missed opportunity man.
