WoW has 1.5s GCD, FFXIV has 2.5s. from 30 onwards, gets good, then from 50 to patch 2.55 gets a lot better, and Heavensward the expansion is basically the best story in a FF game in a decade. When does ffxiv get good [Question] I've been playing the FFXIV trial. My goodness. In terms of finding your way to things to do, the bubble in the top left will always point you to the next main story mission. That's ultimately objective and based on what it is exactly you expect out of the game. I'm objective enough to know, however, that if you don't like the game from 1-49, you're not going to like it at 50. Is there by any chance a Roleplaying Community? I would recommend watching a video of some endgame content and see if the pace looks fun to you. I know. 30-50 hours of bumrush is really nothing compared to the thousands of hours people spend doing endgame gameplay and other things in the long run. Not sure how much that helps, but as your hotbar fills up with more actions you will be using all of them. It does get better as you level up, and leveling up is quicker now that Stormblood is out. At higher levels it's good since you have a LOT of off-GCDs, but while leveling it's kinda boring. But I assume you're not looking for the exact same experience in any case. I like to do 70+. It depends of what you're looking for. . If you want challenge, at lvl 50 you can access extreme content. I’ve been playing more and I’ve started falling in love with the game. It's different than wow, sure. Elvie. Since there's a lot of salt in some of these comments, I'll throw my own two cents in here. They don’t need to be voice acted for me to enjoy the game but I’m curious. I've been playing the FFXIV trial. There is a lot of grind to get to the end-game (because you have to complete every story quest, not because of exp), so if you want to give the game (and your class) a fair shot, you have to be prepared for that. How long does it take for the story to pick up pace a bit and how often are cutscenes voice acted? I’m a relatively new player even though I’ve owned the game since Heavensward first game out. It will never be as fast as wow, but with fairly long rotations on certain classes with a plethora of skills that dont share the global cooldown, i think there is plenty to do in combat. Leveling is fast so I recommend you give it a go. But for some reason, FFXIV isn’t really hitting me immediately. Or should I just bare with it until I reach group content? I only really like playing my job in dungeons etc tho so I could be an outlier because I could care less about story. It's almost a certainty if that was their problem they'll enjoy the game more when combat becomes more than 3 buttons. Personally, the game started getting fun at around 30ish, when skills start getting more varied and when dungeons start getting more difficult/complicated. Is it worth resubbing or even getting the new Expansion? To be fair the game hooked me from the start a few years ago, purely because it was a brand new world. Is there a different class you recommend that feels a bit faster? I'm on lvl 18 now. - Page 2. Whether it's worth it or not is going to be up to you. New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast. Watch a few from different Jobs too. I'd recommend doing a trial again but on a different class (or try out several, you can play them on one character). The game is very slow paced in it's beginning, it's one of the major flaws of FFXIV in that it has not a very good leveling experience in its earlier levels. I prefer single player jrpgs over all other genres, and played this like one. If story doesn't draw you in as your priority, then you can reference videos or the Inn and watch cutscenes at your leisure like a mini-movie. 30 is when it gets better imo but like most are saying 50+ also depends on the job youre playing and what you like. It will slow down again after you complete ARR and are in the inter-game content. You could also try Red Mage and Samurai once you clear ARR's main scenario quests (basically going into lvl 50), but you have to own Stormblood to play them. That should be enough to keep your level current with minimal work. My first MMO as a preteen was FFXI and I easily put 100s of hours into it over 4 or 5 years and had every expansion. so far its such a grind with very little reward. Don't spend money on a game and/or sub that you don't enjoy or aren't going to play. You could try the free trial anyway : it's unlimited and free until lvl 35. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Lancer is notoriously boring at low levels. The developers know its kinda slow to start and that the base game turns some people off of the game. Pressing U (by default) will open up the Duty window (LFG finder). I'm about 8 quests away from an area that will let me continue with my Job quests(post l50) where apparently the game gets really good but I'm finding myself struggling to play at the minute because these quests still feel super filler and I'm just skipping stuff to get it over with which l guess compounds the issue. The story really starts to pick up its pace around your second MSQ trial. I'm trying to push through it cuz people keep telling me its the best game around, but i'm losing my patience. the combat is so slow and they dont give you new moves for so long so im stuck repeating the same combo every time. Once you reach level 50 everything will get much more better. I enjoyed it from the word go. Honestly...? I think I was just a few MSQs away from the good stuff. I’ll definitely push to level 50 by the end of April then thanks! For Final Fantasy XIV Online: A Realm Reborn on the PC, a GameFAQs message board topic titled "Does the story ever get good . Press J to jump to the feed. The game is slow paced compared to Wow, if you can't get over it, it's no use. Just be patient and push through, your patience will be greatly rewarded. Once you reached HW, you will start to experience one of the best storylines the game has to offer. Press J to jump to the feed. My advice is to reach 2.3 (level 50 post-game) ASAP. ARR was a hot mess and I paid (darn you, Square) for a story skip when I got to the stuff between ARR and HW. Maybe I’m just lazy and don’t want to read 6 paragraphs of dialogue in a row while sitting 10 feet away from the TV every time I accept a quest but I do want to give this game a full 100% chance. 50 onwards is when you kit truly begins to diverse and you get key abilities that'll change how your entire job plays. If you enjoy those things, great; if not, unsub until the next patch. But this is highly subjective so not sure what you expect to be "good". Not really sure what "clicked" but I've been here ever since for the last like 2.5-3 years. Game gets progressively better as you reach a higher level because with the extra expansions, they removed a lot of skills from cross-class & added it into roles/jobs, so you have no skills to work with at the lower levels now. You won't be missing out on doing something like you might in WoW. Rogue, when evolving into Ninja, gets a ninjustu called Futon, which make you attack basically as fast as a Pugilist/Monk. Personally, I don't think this game's story can compare to the more intriguing, emotional stories in some of the other games. A expect there to be a Gear Gind, its an Mmorpg after all - But a toxic community would be a huge turn off. Sure you pick a spec at level 10, and you get a lot of abilities through that, but for the most part, nothing about your class really changes apart from picking up new talents every 15 levels and getting mastery at ~80. Are Professions actually worth it in this game? Personally, while I'm always curious where the story will head, there are plenty of parts in the story that I wouldn't exactly call "good". Currently Im in the Middle of an Expansion Burnout in World of Warcraft and want to switch things up a bit. Don't farm mobs for xp as dungeons gives much more. It's a slow rise, but the 50/60/70 plateaus are really what you're working toward at any given time. But if you can get past that, then it starts resemble a coherent story instead of mini episodes. Combat gets good for most classes around 26 or so, when your combos feel more complete. Unlike WoW, this game doesnt try to constantly funnel content down your throat. there's a lot of time in between new abilities. I looked up a bunch of Endgame Videos and it actually looked a lot of fun. Even though I enjoyed parts of it, I quickly got bored because the combat was kinda slow, I didnt have a guild and pretty much walked around clueless. Save your money until you are sure you want to buy the game and expansions. Different roles can feel different too, so you might feel playing a different job could be more rewarding. Or maybe mario. That's why they are working to streamline it better. Source: came from WoW. I played FF Online before, a couple of weeks after Heavensward was first released. Endgame dragoons do 39-40 CPM. Maybe I’m just lazy and don’t want to read 6 paragraphs of dialogue in a row while sitting 10 feet away from the TV every time I accept a quest but I do want to give this game a full 100% chance.
